Injury Report – 05-18-2010
Well, I’m happy to report that my knee is healing nicely! I was back to running, biking, and swimming to my hearts content. I was scheduled to race this past weekend at the Xterra Red River in Oklahoma. Unfortunately we got about 5 inches of rain on Friday and I decided that it was not worth the injury risk to race in the mud the weekend before the Waco Xterra South Central Cup. I bailed. I was up in Oklahoma spending time with my family though… so it was overall a good weekend. I had some friends over on Sunday night for my best friend’s birthday and got a bottle of beer (Negro Modelo) dropped on my toe. OUCHIE!!!!! I knew at that moment that it was broken. Ice. Elevation. Rest. Great. So by Monday morning my toe was all kinds of shades of purple and blue. I decided that going to the doc was probably my best bet. I know that they can’t really do a lot for a broken toe, but I could make sure that I was not going to damage it further by riding/running etc. Sure enough.. it’s broken into three pieces at the tip. He recommended NOT doing the Xterra race this upcoming weekend (and my coach agrees with him). I am SO bummed about it. I will have another shot at a Cup race in a month in Alabama so all is not lost. I am still planning on racing out at Juan Pelota at the end of the month (just a MTB race..so the toe should be fine for that). So, it’s more training time for me. Next race is the Alabama Xterra Race mid June. See you there!!!!!!
