04/15/2010- Austin Bound
I’m headed to Austin today for my first Xterra of the season out at Muleshoe which is just outside of Austin, TX. Yesterday was my first open water swim of the season and I think it went fairly well. I seem to be doing well at staying straight and sighting the buoys which is crutial. I am feeling a bit more comfortable in my wetsuit. The water was in the mid 60’s yesterday which is about what the temp is out at Muleshoe. A bit on the chilly side when you first get in, but seems to be just fine in a wetsuit after a minute or so. Mellow Johnny’s is having a pre-ride of the course out at Muleshoe on Friday morning so I’ll get a chance to see what the ride/run/swim course is going to look like. I’ve heard some good things about the course. I have no doubt that Mike and the Race Revolutions crew has put together a challenging course for us! I’ve also heard it’s going to be super fast! I’m trying to keep my nerves in check but I’m so dang excited about this weekend. This is what I’ve been training for all winter! I feel like my fitness level is good… just not feeling so strong with my speed. I’m anxious to see where I’m at compared to the other girls out there on the course this weekend. Wish me luck out there!!!!!!!
